Is that for Decoration?

So we don’t have the most organized storage room.  We have made attempts, but it is not something I find high on my priority list.  Organizing the storage room goes something like this:  One of us can’t find this or that so we go down and start putting things in place until we find what we are looking for.  So I was looking for my Halloween decorations and couldn’t find them. I knew that Jamon must have put them somewhere when he was “organizing,” so we went down together to look for them.  As we were “organizing,” we starting putting all our duffle bags in a pile (does anyone else have tons of duffle bags?).  Jamon then said “No way, you’ll never believe what I just found.”  I started thinking what have we been missing.  I spouted off some guess’s, but was not prepared for what he found.

A Bat.

a dead Bat

Not just a dead bat, but a nicely preserved dead bat.

We still don’t know how he got into our house.  Did we by chance leave the garage door, the door to the house and the storage room door open at the same time, at night when the lights were out in the house?  Or did the bat fly through a vent?  Doesn’t matter, it’s gross no matter how he got into our house.  My mom told me to put it in a jar for Halloween.  I probably should have, but at the time it was just gross.

Spooky Halloween coincidence:  We had just been watching Jeff Corwin on Netflix about bats.  Not kidding.  We went straight to the storage room after the episode.  Oooo-Oooo-Oooo!

4 Months

Another month has gone by and I told myself that I would try to at least make one other post before Asher’s monthly update, but alas I didn’t do it.  We aren’t as boring as we may seem.  We do things as a family, Liam is always up to something and crazy stuff always happens.  So I will try harder to do more than just Asher’s monthly updates.

Asher’s Stats and developments:

  • Weight: 13lbs 1oz 15th percentile
  • Height: 24 inches 20th percentile
  • Head: 41.1cm  45th percentile

DSC_0618-1

  • has started laughing, but it takes quite a bit to get him to do it
  • rolls onto his side, just can’t quite get all the way over
  • is very ticklish on his back and thighs.  His tickle reflex is putting his hands up by his mouth.

DSC_0649-1

  • is very loud, when he’s in a good mood you know it.
  • can turn himself in a complete circle when laying on the ground
  • is super wiggly, he rarely holds still.  Changing his diaper is quite a feat, especially trying not to get his foot in the poop.

DSC_0640-1

  • still a good sleeper, bed by 8:30 and up to eat by 6 or 6:30 and then asleep until 8 or 9.
  • loves his brother, smiles at him constantly
  • has started playing with toys

DSC_0659-1

  • loves when I sing to him.
  • new foods he has tasted: calzone and bagel (thanks to Liam.  see previous posts about other foods)
  • now takes a bottle.  Still nursing, but 2 weeks ago took him in to the Dr. (thought he had a sore throat), and he dropped to the 5th percentile for weight.  So I knew it was time.  He gained a pound in two weeks. Woo Hoo for weight gain, Boo for having a bottle.

Look at those eyes.  Proud to say he got them from me.  Did you notice his scratch.  His nails grow SO fast.  I’m clipping them every two weeks.  That scratch drew blood.  Oh the adorable blue sweater was one that my brother’s wore.  Don’t you love it?  I do.
