6 Months

This post is SO late.  I have not had a minute to sit down and write it.  So here it is 11 days late. Oh and once again I our camera’s were not working so you get ipad pictures this time.  My camera is now fixed so hopefully I get better pictures from now on.

  • twists, turns and scoots all over.
  • wiggled his way out of his swing while strapped in.
IMG_0498[1]
  • likes to pull his socks off and eat his toes

Is it too late?

Yes, I am just getting to posting about Halloween.

I had fun this year introducing Liam to witches, ghosts, pumpkins, trick-or-treating and anything else Halloween.  We made spider handprints, ghosts using our feet, decorated cookies, painted Halloween pictures, and a few other things.

Almost every week for over a year Liam and I (and now Asher, of course) get together with my friend Stephanie and her daughter Eliza.  We used to enjoy our time together by crafting and having adult conversations, but with a two year old and a one year old those days are gone.  We now spend our time doing activities/crafts to entertain the kids and have interrupted adult conversation. Well that was a long introduction to the next two pictures.  Here are Liam and Eliza getting ready to decorate cookies.  They both look like they have been caught doing something.  Well they had.  They both have candy in their mouths.

Liam looking so proud of his decorated cookie.  He enjoyed decorating with the chocolate chips and Reese's pieces the best.  He would put them on and then take them off and eat them.

Jamon decided that he really wanted to wear tatoo sleeves this year so he wanted to be a rocker guy and I would be his rocker girl.  We bought wigs and I made a tutu.  I was a little worried about Liam being okay with us wearing wigs (I scared him before by putting on a mask) so I prepped him the day of our ward Halloween Party.  I put my wig on and he just kept say “No” and didn’t want me close to him.  To get him used to Jamon’s wig I put it on him…

IMAG0375

Look at the face. Hilarious!

We dressed Liam up as a ghost this year, because he liked to say “BOO” whenever we saw a ghost.  So we decided to dress Asher up as the same.

I forgot my camera (plus it is broken or maybe just dirty) so you get to enjoy phone quality pictures.

halloween2012

For Trunk-or-Treating we decorated our car by setting up a TV and Play Station in the back of the Element and played Guitar Hero.  It was Awesome.

IMAG0383

First time Trick-or-Treating.  He LOVED it and it only took him a few houses to learn what he had to do.

IMAG0384

Immediately after we got home Liam dove into his Candy.  He downed 3 suckers within 5 minutes plus much more.  (I’ve confiscated his candy for potty training, more on that later)

5 Months

please excuse the pictures.  My camera is broken and we can’t find the charger for Jamon’s point and shoot camera.  So all we have is our phones. Not horrible pictures, but definitely not great.  Still a cute face though.

IMAG0399[1]

Asher’s 5 month stats:

  • Weight 15lbs. (bathroom scale)
  • uses his feet, while on his back, to push himself across the room.
  • enjoys watching TV more than he should at this age. Even when we face him away from the TV he will arch his back or turn his body to watch.

IMAG0397[2]

  • gives anyone a smile that will give him the time of day
  • not the biggest fan of his carseat
  • I think I’ve said it before, but he is the wiggliest kid ever.
IMAG0408[1]
  • can do a sit up (see video at end of post)
  • loves playing with toys, and paper, and anything he can get his hands on
  • stares enviously at our food and has even started reaching for itIMAG0401[2]
  • hasn’t tasted any new food this month, but did swallow a small piece of paper
  • has rolled from stomach to back a few times
  • still hard to make laugh. Maybe all the smiling is taking it’s place.

IMAG0410[1]

Here is an awesome video of Asher doing a sit up.  I recorded it with my phone on a low setting so I could send it to people via text, so the quality is bad.

Asher sitting up.

We are working on getting him to do a sit up lying flat on the ground.  He is close, but not quite there.

Is that for Decoration?

So we don’t have the most organized storage room.  We have made attempts, but it is not something I find high on my priority list.  Organizing the storage room goes something like this:  One of us can’t find this or that so we go down and start putting things in place until we find what we are looking for.  So I was looking for my Halloween decorations and couldn’t find them. I knew that Jamon must have put them somewhere when he was “organizing,” so we went down together to look for them.  As we were “organizing,” we starting putting all our duffle bags in a pile (does anyone else have tons of duffle bags?).  Jamon then said “No way, you’ll never believe what I just found.”  I started thinking what have we been missing.  I spouted off some guess’s, but was not prepared for what he found.

A Bat.

DSC_0709

a dead Bat

DSC_0706

Not just a dead bat, but a nicely preserved dead bat.

We still don’t know how he got into our house.  Did we by chance leave the garage door, the door to the house and the storage room door open at the same time, at night when the lights were out in the house?  Or did the bat fly through a vent?  Doesn’t matter, it’s gross no matter how he got into our house.  My mom told me to put it in a jar for Halloween.  I probably should have, but at the time it was just gross.

DSC_0708

Spooky Halloween coincidence:  We had just been watching Jeff Corwin on Netflix about bats.  Not kidding.  We went straight to the storage room after the episode.  Oooo-Oooo-Oooo!

4 Months

Another month has gone by and I told myself that I would try to at least make one other post before Asher’s monthly update, but alas I didn’t do it.  We aren’t as boring as we may seem.  We do things as a family, Liam is always up to something and crazy stuff always happens.  So I will try harder to do more than just Asher’s monthly updates.

DSC_0632-1

Asher’s Stats and developments:

  • Weight: 13lbs 1oz 15th percentile
  • Height: 24 inches 20th percentile
  • Head: 41.1cm  45th percentile

DSC_0618-1

  • has started laughing, but it takes quite a bit to get him to do it
  • rolls onto his side, just can’t quite get all the way over
  • is very ticklish on his back and thighs.  His tickle reflex is putting his hands up by his mouth.

DSC_0649-1

  • is very loud, when he’s in a good mood you know it.
  • can turn himself in a complete circle when laying on the ground
  • is super wiggly, he rarely holds still.  Changing his diaper is quite a feat, especially trying not to get his foot in the poop.

DSC_0640-1

  • still a good sleeper, bed by 8:30 and up to eat by 6 or 6:30 and then asleep until 8 or 9.
  • loves his brother, smiles at him constantly
  • has started playing with toys

DSC_0659-1

  • loves when I sing to him.
  • new foods he has tasted: calzone and bagel (thanks to Liam.  see previous posts about other foods)
  • now takes a bottle.  Still nursing, but 2 weeks ago took him in to the Dr. (thought he had a sore throat), and he dropped to the 5th percentile for weight.  So I knew it was time.  He gained a pound in two weeks. Woo Hoo for weight gain, Boo for having a bottle.

DSC_0671-1

Look at those eyes.  Proud to say he got them from me.  Did you notice his scratch.  His nails grow SO fast.  I’m clipping them every two weeks.  That scratch drew blood.  Oh the adorable blue sweater was one that my brother’s wore.  Don’t you love it?  I do.

3 Months

DSC_0480-1

I’m in love….of course, with Jamon, but Asher, has stolen my heart all over again. His smile is so addicting.  When he looks up at me, smiles and starts to coo my heart just melts.  I would give him anything he wanted and he would never cry if it wasn’t for his rambunctious big brother, who I love just as much.

DSC_0493-1

Asher at 3 months:

  • according to our home scale he weighs 11ish lbs
  • has found his mouth with his hands and enjoys a good hand sucking now and again.
  • tries to enjoy tummy time.
  • loves to stand up
  • is no longer scared by the loudness and closeness of Liam
  • has transitioned to being bathed in the bathtub and was only nervous for the first 10ish seconds, now he loves bath time
  • has slept straight through the night (8:30-5 or 5:30) for almost a week.
  • will lay on his play mat for 20 plus minutes, and is happy the whole time.
  • has just started to notice when I leave his eye sight.
  • purposely reaches for the toys on his play mat.  Will grab and hold on to the soft toys
  • sometimes he would rather chat with me instead of eating
  • has tried sitting in the Bumbo, and can do it, but doesn’t like it

DSC_0463-1DSC_0488-1DSC_0478-1

It’s okay to admit that he is just too cute.

Asher: 2 months

DSC_0352Our little Asher is 2 months old.  He is growing like crazy, or so I thought.  At his Well-baby check-up I was told he is measuring small.  he went from the 30% to the 10%.  What the heck.  I  thought everything was going so well.  He looks bigger.  He has grown out of newborn onsies.  I don’t get it.  So just when I thought Asher was nursing so much better than Liam I’m told that really Asher is having one of the same problems Liam did.  Too lazy to drink the hindmilk.  I’m in no way a lazy eater and if you know the Andelin’s they are not lazy eaters either.  So we will see how it goes in the next few weeks.  See if he gets bigger.

DSC_0326

Anyway here are Asher’s Stats and developments

  • Weight: 10lbs 4oz (10th percentile)
  • Height:  22 1/2 inches (45th percentile)
  • Head: 38 inches (20th percentile)
  • smiling since birth, but now does it socially, and A LOT.
  • pretty sure he is a Mama’s boy (I love it, unless I don’t have time to love it)
  • holds head up
  • already loves to stand up
  • likes looking at himself in the mirror
  • likes playing on his play mat.  I’m trying to figure out if he is purposefully trying to hit the toys of if it’s all reflexes.
  • sleeps at least 7 to 8 hours a night.
  • so far travels really well (we’ve only been to Enoch so far)
  • scared of mine and Jamon’s sneezing

DSC_0410DSC_0354DSC_0421DSC_0430

Although I have declared over and over again that Asher is quite smiley, I could only catch one on camera.  It wasn’t that he wasn’t smiling, my small zoom lens broke so I have to stand far away to get my bigger zoom lens to work, so by the time I was in position to take his picture the smiling had stopped.  I tried to enlist Liam to help me, but he just wanted his picture taken.  I’ll post some of those pictures later.

The Terrib-ly Fun Two’s

Liam Turned Two…IMAG0270

He is so full of energy and super busy.  I can’t keep up with him.

IMAG0265

Liam’s Two year old Stats:

  • weight: 27 lbs (40 percentile)
  • Height: 34 inches (40 percentile)
  • learned to climb the stairs without using a rail or wall (he always looks like he’s going to fall)
  • is really starting to pick up on talking (we still can’t understand a lot of what he says, but Doc says he is not delayed)
  • has transitioned to a toddler bed…he only falls out every once in a while.
  • learned to open doors…worst thing ever.  He also makes sure all the doors are closed.
  • is very interested in how things work, and learns fast how to do it himself.
  • uses our smart phones to play games, look at pictures/videos, & to call people, usually grandma, aunt mille, aunt Jodee, or Dad.
  • loves to do anything water…water plants, drink from the hose, run through the sprinklers, the kitchen sink, just be wet.
  • loves to take his pants & diapers off, including when he’s going to bed (we’ve changed many clothes & sheets while he sleeps).  He has recently decided that peeing in the toilet is the greatest thing…bring on potty training.
  • is doing well at matching, loves to count (especially loves the number 8), and loves to hear the alphabet.
  • he’s really good at animal sounds
  • will do ANYTHING for a treat…including eating his veggies
  • thinks he is super funny and laughs at himself all the time
  • started the “terrible two’s” at 18 months. We’ve gotten over some behaviors, but there is always a new one to take its place
  • would much prefer to be around all his cousins
  • likes to be outside with dad…its almost expected as soon as Jamon gets home.
  • favorite things to eat: smoothies, macaroni and cheese…any kind of cheese, marshmallows, and dried fruit.  He also likes to go pick and eat raspberries.
  • is doing pretty good at being a big brother…he’s only hit Asher 1 time.
  • loves to jump off of things, including dad.
  • loves to longboard….no he can’t stand, he sits or lays on it.

Thanks to my smart phone for the nice blurry pictures.  I had to show them off.  He doesn’t pose/smile for the camera very often.

It was a fun party.  The kids entertained themselves.  Nope, we did not stage this picture.

Happy Birthday to my energetic, busy boy.  You make me tired, but I sure do Love you.
