3 Months

DSC_0480-1

I’m in love….of course, with Jamon, but Asher, has stolen my heart all over again. His smile is so addicting.  When he looks up at me, smiles and starts to coo my heart just melts.  I would give him anything he wanted and he would never cry if it wasn’t for his rambunctious big brother, who I love just as much.

DSC_0493-1

Asher at 3 months:

  • according to our home scale he weighs 11ish lbs
  • has found his mouth with his hands and enjoys a good hand sucking now and again.
  • tries to enjoy tummy time.
  • loves to stand up
  • is no longer scared by the loudness and closeness of Liam
  • has transitioned to being bathed in the bathtub and was only nervous for the first 10ish seconds, now he loves bath time
  • has slept straight through the night (8:30-5 or 5:30) for almost a week.
  • will lay on his play mat for 20 plus minutes, and is happy the whole time.
  • has just started to notice when I leave his eye sight.
  • purposely reaches for the toys on his play mat.  Will grab and hold on to the soft toys
  • sometimes he would rather chat with me instead of eating
  • has tried sitting in the Bumbo, and can do it, but doesn’t like it

It’s okay to admit that he is just too cute.

Asher: 2 months

DSC_0352Our little Asher is 2 months old.  He is growing like crazy, or so I thought.  At his Well-baby check-up I was told he is measuring small.  he went from the 30% to the 10%.  What the heck.  I  thought everything was going so well.  He looks bigger.  He has grown out of newborn onsies.  I don’t get it.  So just when I thought Asher was nursing so much better than Liam I’m told that really Asher is having one of the same problems Liam did.  Too lazy to drink the hindmilk.  I’m in no way a lazy eater and if you know the Andelin’s they are not lazy eaters either.  So we will see how it goes in the next few weeks.  See if he gets bigger.

DSC_0326

Anyway here are Asher’s Stats and developments

  • Weight: 10lbs 4oz (10th percentile)
  • Height:  22 1/2 inches (45th percentile)
  • Head: 38 inches (20th percentile)
  • smiling since birth, but now does it socially, and A LOT.
  • pretty sure he is a Mama’s boy (I love it, unless I don’t have time to love it)
  • holds head up
  • already loves to stand up
  • likes looking at himself in the mirror
  • likes playing on his play mat.  I’m trying to figure out if he is purposefully trying to hit the toys of if it’s all reflexes.
  • sleeps at least 7 to 8 hours a night.
  • so far travels really well (we’ve only been to Enoch so far)
  • scared of mine and Jamon’s sneezing

DSC_0410DSC_0354DSC_0421DSC_0430

Although I have declared over and over again that Asher is quite smiley, I could only catch one on camera.  It wasn’t that he wasn’t smiling, my small zoom lens broke so I have to stand far away to get my bigger zoom lens to work, so by the time I was in position to take his picture the smiling had stopped.  I tried to enlist Liam to help me, but he just wanted his picture taken.  I’ll post some of those pictures later.

The Terrib-ly Fun Two’s

Liam Turned Two…IMAG0270

He is so full of energy and super busy.  I can’t keep up with him.

IMAG0265

Liam’s Two year old Stats:

  • weight: 27 lbs (40 percentile)
  • Height: 34 inches (40 percentile)
  • learned to climb the stairs without using a rail or wall (he always looks like he’s going to fall)
  • is really starting to pick up on talking (we still can’t understand a lot of what he says, but Doc says he is not delayed)
  • has transitioned to a toddler bed…he only falls out every once in a while.
  • learned to open doors…worst thing ever.  He also makes sure all the doors are closed.
  • is very interested in how things work, and learns fast how to do it himself.
  • uses our smart phones to play games, look at pictures/videos, & to call people, usually grandma, aunt mille, aunt Jodee, or Dad.
  • loves to do anything water…water plants, drink from the hose, run through the sprinklers, the kitchen sink, just be wet.
  • loves to take his pants & diapers off, including when he’s going to bed (we’ve changed many clothes & sheets while he sleeps).  He has recently decided that peeing in the toilet is the greatest thing…bring on potty training.
  • is doing well at matching, loves to count (especially loves the number 8), and loves to hear the alphabet.
  • he’s really good at animal sounds
  • will do ANYTHING for a treat…including eating his veggies
  • thinks he is super funny and laughs at himself all the time
  • started the “terrible two’s” at 18 months. We’ve gotten over some behaviors, but there is always a new one to take its place
  • would much prefer to be around all his cousins
  • likes to be outside with dad…its almost expected as soon as Jamon gets home.
  • favorite things to eat: smoothies, macaroni and cheese…any kind of cheese, marshmallows, and dried fruit.  He also likes to go pick and eat raspberries.
  • is doing pretty good at being a big brother…he’s only hit Asher 1 time.
  • loves to jump off of things, including dad.
  • loves to longboard….no he can’t stand, he sits or lays on it.

Thanks to my smart phone for the nice blurry pictures.  I had to show them off.  He doesn’t pose/smile for the camera very often.

And here’s his cake…

It was a fun party.  The kids entertained themselves.  Nope, we did not stage this picture.

Happy Birthday to my energetic, busy boy.  You make me tired, but I sure do Love you.

One Month

This last month has flown by.  As I mentioned in the previous post so much has happened that I can’t keep up.

So I’ve been a mom of 2 for a month now.  We are slowly adjusting.  We went to the grocery store last week and forgot to pay for some things in our cart and then left other things behind that we did pay for, not sure why we felt so flustered.  I have successfully been to Wal-mart with no help. Lucky for me Liam was a champ and just sat in the cart.

DSC_0221

Jamon has started almost sleep walking at night to help with Asher.  He sometimes can’t remember getting up with him.  He also has walked down stairs to throw a diaper and way and wash his hands and doesn’t remember.

DSC_0241-1

Things we know about Asher:

  • He doesn’t just cry he SCREAMS.
  • He likes bath time
  • Thanks to his brother he has tasted a blueberry muffin, popcorn and a graham cracker.
  • He no longer looks like he has Jaundice.
  • Is smiling more and more when we talk to him
  • sleeps 5 hours at night and has gone up to 6 hours (awesome)
  • started cooing.  Love it.

DSC_0222-1I am so Happy that we caught this smile on camera.  What a cutie.

What a day

So this post is overdue, but to much is happening to fast for me to keep up how I would like.

June 22 was a very busy, but very exciting day.  It started out by us heading to the Church Administration Building with Jamon’s parents, all his brothers and their spouses, his grandparents, and an Aunt.  We were there to meet with Elder Christofferson, one of the 12 Apostles, who would set Jamon’s parents apart as Mission Presidents in the Columbia, Bogata North Mission.

settingapartwithdtc

It was quite the experience.  Elder Christofferson came and shook everyone’s hands.  The spirit was strong there as we listened to the blessing and counsel from him.  Jamon’s parents will be missed, but we look forward to what the next three years will bring.

Liam and Asher with President and Sister Andelin…Grandpa and Grandma.  This is the before picture.  When they get home we will take another one.  What they will come home too… Liam won’t be scared of Grandpa and will be 5 years old. Asher will be 3 years old and we will most likely have a 1 year old.  Stay tuned…

After the setting apart we walked around temple square for a little bit, then we all met at Café Rio for lunch.  After, all the siblings went to a splash pad to play for a niece, who was celebrating her 8th birthday, and Jamon and I went home.  Liam had spent the week with my parent’s and was now home waiting for us.  We were super excited to see him.  I was especially excited, because I was given the green light to pick up Liam, when I thought I wouldn’t be able to for 6 weeks.

DSC_0028Liam shoving a cupcake in his mouth. You can also see the scrapes he got previously that day.

His homecoming was awesome.  He came out the door to meet us and had the biggest smile on his face and his voice was a couple octave's higher with excitement.  I then picked him up and gave him a huge hug.  It was AWESOME!  I sure love that kid.

Later that day, still June 22, all of Jamon’s family (every last niece and nephew included), along with my parents, my brother’s Jason and Adam with their families and our Bishop met at our house where we blessed Asher.  It was an interesting expeirence to have him blessed at home.  We started out with a song and a prayer.

DSC_0010

Proud Dad, looking very HOT in his new suit, and crying Asher.  He looks like he’s been tortured.

DSC_0016Jamon gave Asher an amazing blessing.  I am so glad he has the priesthood and is able to give our family the blessing they need. I sure do love him.

We then closed with a prayer and began to eat.  Thanks to my Awesome Mom for basically making everything for this meal.  I don’t know what I would’ve done without her.

Here are a few pictures of Asher in his blessing outfit…That my mom made in less than a week.  She’s amazing.

2 week with Asher

DSC_0808

This little guy is such a good baby.  We are loving him.  Liam is learning new ways to help with him.  His favorite thing is to give him the pacifier.  After he touches it and maybe sticks it in his mouth first though.  I have sanitized the pacifiers so much.  Today he has figured out that he can help me carry the car seat…such a big help.

DSC_0816-1

He eats like a champ, which hopefully he will continue to do (unlike his brother did). Liam loves to help feed Asher.  Asher has already tried Blue Berry Muffins and Popcorn.  Liam also helps me nurse…figure that one out?

DSC_0824-1

Asher has peed or pooped on me more times in his short life than Liam has in his almost 2 years.  Liam thinks Asher’s poopy diapers are gross, but doesn’t think his own are.  On the bathroom note Liam is starting to enjoy sitting on the toilet.  I see potty training in the near future.

DSC_0815-1

At Asher’s 2 (and a half) week Dr. appointment he weighed 7lbs 1oz.  This is almost half a pound over his birth weight.  He’s in the 30% for weight, 50% for height, which is still 20”.  He makes Liam look huge.  (Liam’s 2 year stat’s coming soon.)

DSC_0818-1

From the beginning Asher smiled tons.  Gas you say…probably, but come on, can all those smiles be because of gas?  I like to think that only part of it is gas and the other part is because he is so happy to be here.  Oh and by the way Asher’s name means “Happy, Blessed.” They go together perfectly.

He’s here… Andelin Boy #2

So here’s the story:

First I have to start by telling all the craziness that lead up to the actual birth.  My Awesome little sister decided that June 2nd (also Jamon’s Birthday) was the day that she wanted to get married (more on the wedding craziness later…I hope).  A whole week before I was due to give birth.  My other sister, from Texas was going to be in town and really wanted to be here for when the baby was born without having to drive a ton since they had already driven for days to get here. Jamon was going to be on his crazy12+ hours work schedule, and my mom, who I knew I would desperately need to help out with Liam, was planning a wedding.  So when do I give birth.  I really wanted to let him come naturally, but with all the above craziness  we knew it would be better to pick a day to have him.  We chose June 6th.  It seemed the best day for every situation, except that I wanted to have started labor before actually having the c-section.

We were scheduled to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning and deliver around 7:30.  While sleeping my wish came true.  I started having some mild contractions.  The nurse told me they weren’t serious contractions but it was a good start.  Well that was good enough for me.  When we got to the hospital the nurses started getting me all ready with the gown and IV, which ended up being the worst pain I felt all day.

DSC01572 I walked myself to the operating room where the anesthesiologist (who was awesome) gave me the spinal tap. It was very fast acting.  I almost didn’t make it laying down before it took full effect.  Just in case you were wondering, an epidural numbs everything and a spinal just takes away the pain.  I felt every pull and push the doctors were doing. It actually felt like the baby was doing some serious moving in the belly.

DSC01570

Jamon came into the operating room in his sterile get-up.  This was when the emotions actually started.  I just LOVE him so much. When the moment came the anesthesiologist asked if I wanted to see when he came out.  I decided I did.  Don’t worry I did not see my insides on the table or inside of me.  I only saw my belly and Asher being pulled out.  It was just as emotional as it was when Liam was born.  An AMAZING miracle.

DSC01579

He was taken over to be weighed and measured and yes he did cry the whole time.  When he was done they gave him to Jamon and he brought him to me.  I couldn’t hold him, but it was nice to spend some time with him.  More time than I got with Liam when he was born.

DSC01586

Yup, still crying.

I felt very relaxed, calm and SO very happy, as I waited patiently for them to stitch me back up.  I’m pretty sure the pain meds helped with that whole feeling.

As I was being wheeled to my room I noticed Jamon still in the nursery with Asher. He swallowed some fluid on his way out so they were monitoring him.  His breathing was faster than it should’ve been so they had to keep testing and monitoring that, along with having his blood sugar tested because he was small. His poor feet were poked every couple hours. After a few minutes they brought him into me so I could FINALLY hold him.  It was love. (I refuse to show my first picture with Asher.  Don’t worry, I’m still going to show an awful hospital picture of me.)

Jamon and I couldn’t wait for Liam to come in.  We had my sister and her girls wait outside so that we could have some time with just our family.  It was great.  Liam was excited to see a baby, but then that was over and he just wanted to explore the awesome room with all the wires and buttons.

DSC01610

DSC01614

See…horrible hospital picture.

Well I spent the next couple of days waking up at every sound or movement and falling asleep within seconds.  The drugs were so great, but made me SO tired.  It was a good hospital stay, but Jamon was ready to go home.  I could’ve stayed the rest of the day with the nurse I had.  I had her for two days when Liam was born and I really like her. Plus I was feeling a little nervous to go home and start doing things for myself again.

DSC01621DSC01624

We left Saturday afternoon, and I have been recovering so well.  I can’t pick up Liam so that has been HARD on him and even HARDER on me.  Liam has spent tons of time with my mom, either at our house or her house.  Thank goodness for moms, and sisters, and cousins.  Liam has been taken care of very well.
